3. Detroit

Boasting a population of over 4 million in its metropolitan area, the largest city in the state of Michigan is home to important landmarks including the GM Renaissance Center, Hart Plaza, and the Guardian Building. Driving to downtown Detroit from Ypsilanti takes about 35 minutes along route I-94.
