Engine problems can be a nightmare for most car owners. Fortunately, if you have a problem in Ypsilanti, MI, your Honda dealer is here to help you. We’d like you to know some signs that you may need an engine repair.

Leaking Radiator Cap

The radiator cap is attached to the top of your radiator. It securely fits into the radiator and has two seals that ensure an air-tight fit. The radiator cap controls the pressure in the radiator. The radiator routinely handles fluid with a temperature over 300 F, and this level of heat increases the pressure in the system. If the radiator’s internal pressure rises too high, the cap will open briefly to bleed off the excess pressure.

We routinely check the cap’s seals during your radiator service. These seals are subject to the same heat and pressure as the radiator and can wear out. A worn seal will open a large enough gap for pressurized coolant to escape. You can always identify a leaking radiator cap by the white streaks the coolant leave behind. We can swiftly replace a damaged cap and seals to solve this problem.

Worn Alternator

Almost all your Honda’s systems depend on electricity and the alternator in your car that produces the required electricity. An alternator will usually work for eight years before it starts showing signs of wear. If your alternator starts to wear out, its electricity production will gradually drop. It’s a gradual but irreversible process and will cause problems for your car.

As the supply of power drops, your car’s systems will be starved of electricity. Your car’s computer will adjust the supply of power to components depending on the available electricity. This will cause random electrical issues and a variety of other problems. Our technicians can test your alternator, and we can install a new one if the original is failing.

Engine Leaks

Your Ford contains a wide variety of fluids, including transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, oil, fuel, and others. Each of these fluids has an important role to play in the smooth functioning of your car. Fluids can leak from a variety of places, and worn or damaged parts causes all leaks. A crack in the radiator, for example, can lead to a coolant leak.

Most of these fluids are under pressure, so even a small crack or hole can cause a fast fluid loss. Fortunately, most fluids will leak externally and this makes the problem easier to see. If you spot any fluid leaking from your car, call us right away. Our expert technicians will fix the problem.
